I will mention that I am in total agreement with those statements in favor of H.G.Wells' original novel....it should have been the accepted basis of the new Time Machine film...not a side-tracked and mutated variation of his classic work! I have read the novel and have taken the journey many times.... and in retrospect, can honestly say that there is a definite reason for its designation as a CLASSIC! I just wonder what H.G. himself would say if he were alive to see this film......
The George Pal film of 1960, though a variation in its own right, is nevertheless an extension of Wells' idea....particularly the futuristic vision of the Eloi/ Morlock cultures. I feel as though I am in the future when I view the earlier film, not in some 'Neanderthal' world of the Cenozoic Era such as displayed in the present adaptation. It looks as though Mr. Pal's film, as well as the novel by H.G. Wells, have withstood the test of time! With the new "Time Machine," the future just "ain't what it used to be!!!"
