Thank you Bruce. It does my heart and spirit good to know that my writings have brought back fond memories of your childhood. I'm sure if we had grown up together in the same neighborhood and time period we would have been good, but mischievous, playmates. I'm not sure I would have followed you into those subterranean passageways though, not without a full box of matches and a flaming torch. We would have found the scattered bones of a dead rodent or a dog and knowing my imagination I would have convinced you that the bones were human and evidence of the Morlock's presents. You would have been following behind me and we ran towards the light of the entrance. We would tell our friends of our adventure and the human bones we had seen and soon all the children in the neighborhood would be talking about the cannibalistic Morlock’s that dwell in the subterranean passageways.

I can very well agree with you, William! Those drainage tunnels reminded me of the labyrinthine tunnels of the Morlock world! I am quite sure that if you and I would have been friends years ago when in our youth, we would most undoubtedly have created a lot of mischief! When I was just a lad, I used to go exploring some local area caves and reminisce over Jules Verne and his immortal tale "Journey to the Center of the Earth!" I have always been fascinated by the wonders of the underground and his writings as well as those of H.G. Wells have long lit the fires of imagination in my mind! It sems as though all of us have garnered a 'gift' being fans of the "Time Machine." We all can see the nostalgic longing for something better in its underlying tone. Isn't it ironic that George, the Time Traveler careens headlong into the future and by doing so, we, the loyal, steadfast fans of this beautiful movie are so quaintly reminded of our childhood and of days in the past! H.G. ...... you were a Master, indeed!
