Posted At 10:17:37 04/04/2002 You can't believe people don't like the new film because 1) you yourself have never read the novel 2) you slept through George Pal's version and 3) you are Guy Pierce. Rock on, dude. |

Posted At 22:49:24 04/04/2002 Bollocks, Mr. X. I suppose you prefer a 1990's "updated" Hollywood version of Shakespeare to a performance that actually strives to be authentic? Oh, I forgot, different is better. Perhaps "Howard's End" would have been better if it had been "updated" and starred the cast of "Friends," eh? Forget the novel on which it was based, the film is now the original text! |

Posted At 06:30:56 04/05/2002 The rest of us have not resorted to using profanity, Mr. X... try to control yourself for the greater good of what this site is intended for! The new movie is here...but it is not and can not be accepted as a worthy replacement for the original story by H.G.Wells. And, as for 'toys' connected to the film...it shows just what underlying juvenile-based opinion you have for Simon Wells' celluloid creation in the first place! Toys.... jeesh! Maybe a model of the machine could be considered... for collectible purposes only...but action figures and such... We all have matured way past the point of playing in our sandboxes! |

Posted At 18:47:02 04/05/2002 Mr X... take a look at the new link Don has up for "Rotten Tomatoes" .... it seems as though the new film definitely has generated the same general opinion among critics; it just cannot compare favorably with the George Pal jewel or H.G. Wells' original classic! As for a toyline in connection with the movie, maybe you can write to a notable toy manufacturer and suggest this. When and if they reply, could you post their observations? I'd be curiously amused to see what they would tell you! |

Posted At 21:58:49 04/10/2002 Whoaaaa there! You don't have to be a kid to enjoy "toys" I collect the Dragon WWII 1/6 scale action figures,(as well as others) and would love 1/6 scale morlocks to add to the mix! The 1/6 scale time machine model that i'm buying will look pretty cool next to my tank and armored troop carrier. (Well it will look pretty cool as long as i don't screw up building it!) |

Posted At 22:21:29 04/10/2002 Since Bruce builds scale models himself, I don't think he was referring to that kind of "toy". He's also buying the 1/6 scale model and so am I, so I think we're all in agreement on that. The 1/6 scale Morlock from "Direct 3D" is also fantastic. I already got it. But X is talking about a line of "products" derived from the 2002 movie and it appears that so far none have been planned, whether you call them "toys", "scale models", "action figures" or otherwise. One scale model company did express an interest in producing a model of the 2002 Time Machine but response to this has been next to nil, so the project may be shelved. |

Posted At 20:24:54 04/19/2002 Peter, the manufacturer recently confirmed that the project for a model based on the DreamWorks version was abandoned due to general bad reviews of the movie and lack of interest. |
