I just got back in town and learned there is a lot of misinformation being told about the New Time Machine Films, so I would like to correct them. 1. We (7th Voyage Productions, Inc.) are doing Two Time Machine Films. One will be animated (not in japan) & the other Live Action. 2. Alan Young is fully aware and the business between Mr. Young & 7th Voyage is our business. 3. Warner Bros knows we are making the Films & they have no objections. 4. I have personally emailed Mr. Leibovit, told him that Warner Bros knows and that we are doing the Two films. We will be placing updates on our site & our new website www.georgepal.com. (George Pal) If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. It is better to get it right from the source. Also, I would like to say Don nor anyone try to contact me regarding these films. It would be incredible to visit the beach at the 'end of the world.' And I hope that you will pay tribute to the late, great George Pal! Posted At 23:33:49 05/03/2002 I can hardly believe it ! I have just visited the 7th Voyage site and what I read there was very saddening. Where I expected to see an update on the productions announced, I instead saw a long message attacking Don ! I couldn’t believe that while Mr. Lucas promotes himself and his productions on Don’s site he then turns around and criticizes him harshly on his ! I felt very hurt and cried when I read this. Don is one of us loyal fans of The Time Machine and he has put an enormous amount of time and effort into creating the most extraordinary and elaborate site about it and he is giving it all to us, the fans. It’s quite possible he may have made a few errors along the way (after all, he’s human like the rest of us !), but it’s unthinkable that someone would be so unforgiving about such minor details ! I have completely lost my enthusiasm for these new productions. All I got from visiting this 7th Voyage site was sadness. Don, I am all for you, as are all the true fans of The Time Machine, and we can’t thank you enough for your great site and all the fascinating updates. It really shows a lot of care and concern for us fans. With your site, we learn something new everyday on the wonderful subject of The Time Machine. |

Posted At 14:55:57 05/06/2002 I, too, have visited the 7th Voyage Site, a journey that I was glad to return from, and have no intention of traveling to again, due to its its vicious personal and biased remarks directed toward Don! It is a shame when someone has to air their petty complaints for the world to see! Is it a cardinal sin to make corections to falsehoods, Mr. Lucas? Don merely tried to help clarify an issue! I applaude him on that! It seems that your acidic remarks, Mr. Lucas, are born of some personal reason... and it only earns a strong distrust and distaste as your reward. Don... keep going on helping the rest of us to discover more about this remarkable film! You are to be congratulated for such fine efforts! |

Posted At 18:26:33 05/06/2002 Yes, I agree with you, Mary Jake and Bruce ! I also don't care to return to that site, nor do I care to see any other 7th Voyage productions. I can't believe that a producer would treat a fan so viciously just because he made one little mistake. And was it really a mistake ??? After all the error IS on the Journey Back video. So why make a big fuss about it ??? It would have been a simple matter to correct him politely and move on ! It just spoiled it all for me. Shame on you Mr. Lucas for treating fans that way - especially one that is hosting your own self-serving promotions ! |

Posted At 11:27:04 05/07/2002 My sentiments exactly, Peter! If Lucas is doing a new film or films based on the H.G. Wells classic, they, too, could easily be checked and corrected before marketing takes place! Bearing this in mind, it is possible that Lucas, himself, may have been instrumental in some way of deluding fans into believeing his videos. He could have easily checked into the facts of the machine's dish/peg controversy before he ever decided to complete the documentary and make it available for public consumption. In a way, he helped create this dilemma with his lack of attention to the details... he just believed in what he was told by others! Now, let HIM prove THAT wrong! In retrospect, the machine is beautiful whether it has 365 pegs on the dish..or 348..or even 802,701 (to pull a familiar number out of the bag of temporal facts)! Who really cares about the variance in number of pegs? Is it worth all that has happened here in the last few weeks of posting? We are all adults... and this can be taken as nothing more than a child-like squabble in its simplest form, thanks to Mr. Lucas' hastily-made opinions! 7th Voyage Productuions did a fine job on the documentary... it is too bad that the question that has caused all this debate can't be resolved with an understanding of some sort. I was in favor of the new films...at first.... I have changed my opinion of any future endeavors by 7th Voyage because of Mr. Lucas's caustic accusations... and if it might be of interest, the fans who he says would be interested in his new film ventures are the very same ones who support this incredible web site from Don Coleman! For myself, I believe this site to be one of the greatest tributes there is to the classic film and the book that inspired it! It continues far beyond where a 45 minute documentary stopped... and I hope to see its continuance for years into the future! So, let Mr. Lucas keep making his documentaries, .... the rest of us will continue to support the fine efforts that Don has created here for all Time Machine fans to enjoy! |
