I would like to echo Mr. Macumber's post. I do not know what... if anything is going on between Mr. Coleman and Mr. Lucas...nor do I care. But I would like to add a comment or two. First up, the work of both of these gentlemen has been a tremendous resource for the preservation and dissemination of most of the existing information on the creation of George Pal's film "The Time Machine." We all know how much this film has touched the hearts of, and influenced, countless fans all over the world. But thanks to foresight, perseverance and determination reflected in Mr. Lucas' "Journey Back" documentary and Mr. Coleman's website, we can all share this fantastic wealth of information, derived from many sources, about our favorite film. Can you all imagine what a shame it would have been if this information was not culled from the memories of Mr. Pal, Mr. Warren, Mr. Chang and others? Secondly, as a documentary producer (and part time model maker and replica builder,) I'll be the first to admit that I, and I think I can safely assume all of us...do occasionally make mistakes. Pointing fingers at these mistakes to criticize them is definitely not a constructive process, but I must also add that knowing that you've made a mistake can be an extremely valuable educational tool. I have learned much from Don and Clyde... and many other talented people who have visited this website, and I thank you all. What I don't want to see happen, is the escalation of this type of criticism to the point where it affects, limits or censors the information of these resources. That said, let's stop the silliness and recognize the extreme value of what we have here...and go forward. We can work together and build on the foundation that Mr. Pal left us and create wonderful works from his ideas and visions that can be shared by all. |
