hello francois ,thanks for the information about the console bulb and month dial. I don't have as yet a dvd copy ,but i'll make sure to get one. I do agree that the bulb on the console does have a different contrast to the month dial, and when not lit, it look's green. The model i'm making is from the chris perrotta blue print's which i brought on don colmans site. I had to double the size of the blue print's to make a scale easier to work from . Although i've never made a model of any sort before, and never realized the main proberblem {SCALE}. This is a wonderful five letter word which prevents you from using something you find by chance, and although being exactly the same shape you need, it's never the right size. Anyway i've made the side rail's and the outer rail all out of 8mm copper tubing . I formed them on wooden jig's. I made many attempts before i was happy. The ring's which connect to the dome's from the rail's i made seperately in the same way. I made the engine housing out of wood,no detail yet, console just cut off a 2" thick wooden pole, no work involved there. Just started work on a new face plate very intricate , decided last one was not good enough for my model. sorry for boring you bye. |

Posted At 21:09:58 05/07/2002 Hello ady: I am also building a 1/4 scale model of the Time Machine. I found the perfect dish for my Time Machine. Long before I had decided to build the Time Machine my son had bought me a model for my birthday. It was a 1:48 scale model of a UFO craft allegedly hidden in Nevada by the U.S. Government. The model was made by TESTORS. Although the diameter of the UFO disc was only 13 inches the debth, curvature, firmness and lightness were qualities I could not ignore. I also liked the fact that the disc was made of styrene. The 348 styrene pegs that accent my dish would adhere strongly to the styrene dish. The model is called Area S4 UFO, by TESTORS. If your good with puddy you can always add two inches onto the diameter. I left it at 13 inches. I have been taking photographs through the stages of construction and they will be posted later in the new year. |

Posted At 14:35:19 05/08/2002 hello william: Glad to here from you. It sounds like your a lot further along with your model than me. It also sounds you have experience in making models. I myself have none. I was wondering, what have been the most difficult challenges youv'e had to overcome. Most of my model will be made of wood, because it's something i'm good at working with. I've just completed a new face plate for the cosole which i've made from 10mm ply. I had a few heart stopping moment's drilling out the month, day and year ovals. Just got to add the lip round each one, then breathe a sigh of relief. I made it out of 10mm ply so i would have enough depth to concave the back ,so it sit's correctly on the console. I think I'm looking at a year to finish the model. With work, and the inexhaustible supply of job's my wife comes up with, i'm lucky to spend 5 hours aweek, i actuaully completed some of the face plate while at work. I would be very grateful if you could help me and advice me on certain things i.e {applying pattern to generator pods, decorating the dish, applying pattern to front of console, etc. Don't worry, i don't need to know now,and i'm sorry if i sound cheeky!. But i genuinely don't know, and would like any help you can give . thanks for listening, bye. |
