In 2021 I got the idea to have a copy of Filby's scarf made. I printed out screen captures showing the scarf and proceeded to ascertain measurements for it, Once I was satisfied with the dimensions I visited Etsy to see if anyone would be interested in taking on the task. I found several people who where making copies of the multitude of Dr. Who scarves. This appealed to me as such a person would already be in tune with making costume replicas. I finally decided to approach Ashlee's Knits as I like the look of the scarves she was making, in particular how she handled the transition between colors. Her work seemed to abruptly change from one color to the next while others I looked at didn't have such a distinct color change,

I contacted Ashlee and sent my design drawing and a screen capture to illustrate what I was interested in. Ashlee was way more helpful than I could have imagined. She has a passion for detail, to get it right. We emailed back and forth for a few weeks to get just the right colors and yarn type.

I opted for wool rather than acrylic as I wanted it to be not only aesthetically correct but to be functional as well. Not that we need a real wool scarf in California, our four seasons are warm, hot, hotter and hotter than ...well it's Hot.

I'm extremely satisfied with the final result. The colors we used are pictured on the right.

Photos of the finished scarf. The gold matches more closely to the sample on the right than it appears in the photo.
