Many of us found ourselves with unexpected time on our hands during the Lockdown. HGWS member, Ray Wilcox of Bangor, Wales, UK used it to create a Time Machine, after director George Pal’s 1960 version of The Time Machine. So, like the Time Traveller, this is the model. When will we see the full-size version, Ray?" Ray tells me that it was "...scratch built from odds and ends a few years ago. The disc rotates and the lights flash when the lever is pushed forward".

"Some of the materials I picked up while I worked as a volunteer for the air ambulance. The disk was made from a brass candlestick holder, the disk holder from a small candlestick. Cogs I obtained from broken scalectrix cars and the motor is hidden in the engine mounting. All the wiring to the LEDs is hidden in hollow brass tubes which form the rails. Most of the electronics was obtained from Maplins."
Maplins was a chain of shops in the UK (and also a large mail order) which would have been like your Radio Shack (Tandy's here) of fond memory.
