ROJO Sculpture Studio Roan Farley is located in the UK. He created the stl file for the Sundial and the column from photos I supplied him.I had purchased the stl fils for the plinth and memorial plaque from Lou Dalmaso a year or so ago, I asked Roan to make a few changes to the plaque as the font was different and the four bolt covers were only half spheres and the ones in the film were more floral. Roan made the requested changes and he then sent the files to Dan Gardon in North Carolina for printing. Dan Gardon printed the all the parts, cleaned them up and then sent them on to me for final finish.. |

I first saw Roan's work on a Dark Shadows Facebook group. He made 1/12th scale models of the foyer tall clock and the bronze statue which seemed to always be on the table in the foyer. I was amazed by the level of detail and how clean the prints were. I got the idea of inquiring if he could create the Sun Dial from the Time Machine in 1/6th scale. I had purchased the stl file for the plinth and memorial plaque and hadn't found any one to print it for me so thought this might be the opportunity to get that done as well. | |

Sun Dial and column in the
film |
Original Sun Dial on a contemporary
column I purchased from a pottery shop in Culver City. Unfortunately the
shop is no longer there and apparently no one makes this column anymore
either. Photographed in my back yard in 2000 |
I sent the above two photos to Roan to see
if it was something he would be interested in doing. |

I had purchased the stl file for the plinth and memorial plaque from . Lou Dalmaso of SprueVerse..I asked Roan to change the font, as the one in the film was a sans serif and the one in the file was a serif font. I also asked him to change the bolt covers in the corners, The ones in the file were simple half round where as the actual ones were more of a floral design. | The The actual Sun Dial used in the film. I had rented it from House of Props back in 2000 and took several photos so I had plenty of reference to share with Roan to work from. |

The raw print of the sundial
and memorial plaque in 1/6th scale |
Some years ago I made a replica
of the Sundial made of casting resin. It came out just fine, but by
the time I got it home it had completely warped from our Burbank summer
heat. One day I'll try it again. |

Plinth painted
with speckles to imitate granite stone. The speckles were done by dipping
a 1" chip brush in black paint and flicking the bristles to spatter
the paint. |
Cleaned Sun Dial,
no assembly was required. |
