The time machine untimately hurtles Alexander to the year 802,701, where he is befreinded and taken in by the ELOI, seemingly the descendents of post-apocalyptic humanity.

The Eloi live high above a riverbed in avillage built entirely on the sheer side of a cliff, with interconnecting bridges and walkways. Light is very imprtant to them, so lanterns and small fires are always burning to illuminate the night. Living in harmony with their natural environment, the Eloi build very graceful, organized structures, made entirely of such raw materils as bamboo, wood, and clay.
