Building a Time Machine

The Base

Construction of the wood base. Four templates were cut from MDF. The base is constructed with four layers of plywood, 2 sheets 1/2" thick and 2 sheets 3/4" thick making the total thickness 2 1/2". Four different router bits were used to create the profile to match the original machine. Each layer was cut and routed then stacked together. Base is constructed of 4 layers of plywood with the edge routed to match the original profile.

Layers assembled and stained red Mahogany
Base stained and coated with orange shellac to give it an antique patina.
